Finding the perfect blush cosmetic formula for you: powder blush, cream blush, gel blush and liquid blush

Blush is an essential cosmetic. But with many formulas it can be hard to know what is the best one for your skin type and lifestyle.

There are many formulas of blush that provide different benefits. The formula that will work best for you is based on your skin tone, skin type and usage. Blush formulas come in powder (which is the most popular), cream, gel and liquid.

  • Powder Blush: Powder blush is a pressed powder with color pigments. It is applied with a blush brush. This formula works for all skin types especially for oily skin.
  • Cream Blush: Cream blush is pigment set in a cream form. It is the best formula for dry skin and gives you a “dewy” look. Apply cream blush with your fingers and blend it into your skin. It is best to use powder after applying cream blush. Powder will help to blend it and set it to last longer. If you need your blush to last all day, such as for your wedding, apply cream blush after foundation, set with powder, and then apply a little bit of powder blush over it.
  • Gel Blush: Gel blush will give you a smooth, translucent look. Again you want to apply it with your fingers and before you powder. It is long lasting and easy to use.
  • Liquid Blush: Liquid blush is used to stain the skin. It can be hard to work with because of this quality. It does last all day and is waterproof.
