With dry skin patches on the face it may be necessary to change some of your makeup products. Here are some of the best makeup for dry skin.

During the winter months most of us will suffer from dry skin or dry skin patches. Although it will be important to undergo dry skin treatment, there are many cosmetic products on the market that will also help hydrate the skin.

Dry Skin Treatment Options

Unless the dry skin is severe or causing an eczema type rash, these two products will help ease the dry skin patches and give the skin more moisture.

  • It will be important to use a gentle scrub or mask on the skin. By removing the dead skin cells it will allow the skin to absorb more of the moisturizer and other products that we will use to keep the skin hydrated. If you have eczema or very sensitive skin, skip this step or ask your dermatologist about a product you can use safely. I like to use a gentle scrub such as Aveeno’s Skin Brightening Daily Scrub. It is a gentle cleanser that can be used daily. I also like Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel that can be used once or twice a week.
  • The second step is to use a daily moisturizer. I like to use a light weight moisturizer during the day and a thicker moisturizer for night. My two favorites are TimeWise Age-Fighting Moisturizer by Mary Kay Cosmetics and Olive Night Creme by Made from Earth.

Ease Dry Skin Patches with Makeup for Dry Skin

Switching to creamier makeup products will help keep skin hydrated during the winter. Powder-based cosmetics absorb the natural oil away from skin which could cause dry skin patches on the face.

  • For foundation and concealers, use a liquid or cream based product instead of a powder based product. Liquid base products will not only help hydrate the skin but they will also help keep the skin looking fresh instead of dull and ashy. Try Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer by Stila for a flawless coverage.
  • For blush, switch to a cream blush. The formula will last longer and will not irritate dry skin patches. During the winter months, a dusty rose color will look best. Try The Multiple by Nars in the color Maui. It can also be used on the body and the lips.
  • Speaking of lips, lips are probably the number one body part that is hard to keep hydrated, especially during the winter months. Using a lip stain will help keep color on the lips when applying multiple coats of lip balm. Another great product would be to switch to tinted lip balms. Burt’s Bees make a variety of lip shimmer lip balms that will hydrate the lips and add color as well. For the winter months, try the colors Rhubarb and Raisin.

Dry skin can be uncomfortable and annoying to deal with, but by using makeup for dry skin it will treat the skin better and help ease dry skin patches.
