Male celebrities have always worn makeup for movie and television appearances. Many have started to wear cosmetics daily. And men of the world have joined in.

Every day men are taking more pride and putting more time in their appearance. Not only are they looking more fashionable, taking better care of their skin, and tweezing their eyebrows. They are also applying makeup to even out skin tone and cover skin imperfections.

There are many differences between men and women and although men wearing cosmetics seems to be crossing a barrier that was once there; makeup needs to be applied differently to men than it does to women. There are some essential steps needed for a man apply foundation correctly.

  1. Exfoliate the skin. This is something that can be done in the shower or when first waking up. It will remove the dead skin cells and will help maintain healthy skin. If a shave is needed, avoid that area of the skin and shave after the shower. Try to get as close of a shave as possible.
  2. Next spray on a toner. Using a toner will help minimize pores and keep oil at bay during the day. A toner also feels very refreshing on the skin.
  3. Then apply a moisturizer. The type of moisturizer depends on if the skin is dry or oily. If the skin is dry, look for a moisturizer that will lock in the skins natural moisture. For oily skin, use more of an oil control lotion rather than a moisturizer.
  4. For skin imperfections such as acne, scars, and dark circles, use a concealer that matches the skin tone or is just a little bit lighter. Using a small concealer brush, apply the concealer in circular motions directly to the spot. Blend into the skin with a light tap of the finger.
  5. If using a foundation as well as a concealer, go ahead and apply directly to the skin. Use a thin layer and blend with fingertips or a cosmetic sponge. Be careful around the hairline, eyebrows, and beard area. Make sure the foundation is the exact same tone and color of the skin. Also check on the type of foundation to make sure it is for the correct skin type. Having the correct color and formula will make the difference in easier application plus will make the makeup unnoticeable.
  6. It may be necessary to set the makeup with a loose powder. Use lightly otherwise it will be obvious that makeup has been applied

Do not touch the face throughout the day. Not only will this keep the makeup on, but it will also help keep oil and dirt at bay.

Remember to wash the face to remove makeup and apply the toner and moisturizer at night for healthy skin.
