Olive oil is a great skincare treatment that is very cost effective and can be used from head to toe. Keep a small bottle in the bathroom for easy access to get great results for skin and hair.
Skincare and Olive Oil
There are many benefits and skincare treatments by applying olive oil to the body. Olive oil provides nourishing nutrients that will help heal dry cracked skin as well as condition the skin all over the body.
- Apply olive oil to elbows, heals, lips, and any other body parts that get dry, chapped skin. The olive oil will provide a deep moisturizer and help heal the skin.
- Olive oil can be used to remove makeup, including eye makeup. It doesn’t take much, just dampen a cotton ball or disposable sponge with oil and apply to face in a circular motion. If you have excessively oily skin, this may not be the best all over cleanser, but will work will to remove eye makeup gently. Plus the added moisturizer is great for the delicate skin around the eyes.
- Apply a few drops of olive oil as a moisturizer. Not only will you get smooth skin but will also provide anti aging benefits and a natural sunscreen prevention too.
- Add a small amount to the bath water for a nourishing spa bath that will leave skin gently moisturized but not greasy to the touch.
- Dip tips of nails in a shallow bowl of olive oil for ten minutes. The oil will help nourish your cuticles and strengthen the nails. This is great for winter time when cold air damages nails and cuticles
- Mix olive oil in with homemade bath salts for a effective body scrub that will also condition and moisturize skin.
Olive Oil for Hair
Just like olive oil will moisturize the skin, it will also help condition hair. Olive oil for hair care can be as simple as adding a few drops to smooth out static and frizz to a more aggressive application to heal split ends.
- If you have dry patches on your scalp, gently massage a few drops of olive oil on to the dry patches.
- Sometimes static electricity gets the better of us and causes hair to have a mind of its own. Apply a few drops of olive oil to the strands of dry hair to stop static and help keep frizziness at bay. This is a quick one step treatment that can be done as you head out the door. This will also add a pretty shine to the hair.
- For a more aggressive approach to condition dry hair and split ends, apply a generous amount to clean hair and wrap head in a warm towel for twenty minutes. Not only will this help condition, stop frizziness and heal split ends, it will also help thicken hair.
- Out of shaving cream? Use olive oil instead. Olive oil is great for sensitive skin.
